MR. AND MS. CAFE

MR. AND MS. CAFE
[mis-ter and mis]
Halal

HI HI! Very sorry for the lack of updates lately. I've been so busy with studies. But I'm back! Here with a SHORT UPDATE about Mr. and Ms. Cafe in Oasis Ara Damansara! :D Bestie and I wanted to go for a snack and coffee break, so we decided to try out this cafe!

Photo taken from their official FB page. This is what the entrance looks like!

A photo summary of the whole cafe! Left side is a cute little corner with cushions; I suppose it caters to families with kids cause there's room to play there. Right side is normal seating area. Simple and comfy cafe.

Bestie and I snacked on a "Mr. and Ms." Caesar Salad (RM17.90) and "Mr. and Ms." Bruschetta Platter (RM16.90). The salad was nothing special, but you can't go wrong with Caesar Salad, right? The bruschetta was pretty good and really filling! I was pleasantly surprised!

For dessert, we had some coffee and pancakes! YUM! It looks good right? That's because it WAS GOOD! Bestie had a latte (RM8, I think) and I had a cappucino (RM8). Sorry to say, but I don't remember the price of the pancakes but the price range of the cafe is from RM10 - RM25; the pancakes were RM20++ if not mistaken. It was pretty good! We were so happy after eating it all! SUPER YUM.

Over all, a nice experience. Definitely a cute place to go to when you want to catch up with your friends. I think it's best to go for their desserts! The dessert portion is good for sharing with friends! But their food could be better.

ALEXIS BSC

ALEXIS BSC
[ah-lek-sis BSC]
Halal; serves alcohol

My family and I have always been fans of Alexis, ever since it opened many years ago! We decided to go over there for my mom's birthday dinner and I'm pleased to say that Alexis still hasn't failed me!

Here's the entrance to the restaurant! Pretty quaint. You can already see from the outside that the restaurant has nice interior design (at least to me), and it kind of draws you in.

View from my seat. The restaurant is fairly big. There's a lot of room, especially for private functions. There's a bar area at the back too; assuming it's for the live performances they tend to have on weekends. They have a lot of decorative elements! The white shelves and cute light bulbs; kind of gives the place a very modern edge. And I kind of like how they exposed the ceiling; it goes well with everything.

This was the private space that my family and I sat nearby to. This space is for functions like birthdays and etc; you can make reservations for big pax and book this space!

Here's are the desserts! By this time, I was already eyeing the pavlova! Looks so yummy!

Here's a peek into the menu. Food is a tad pricey but I can't complain cause most of the food are delicious! Haha. This restaurant is obviously a special-occasion type of place.

I ordered the Pappardelle with meatballs (RM38) and a pot of hot mango tea. It was VERY filling; I felt bad that I couldn't finish everything! But I forced myself to engulf all the meatballs. Incredible portion for you big eaters out there! The mango tea; nothing to complain about. They provide honey for a healthier alternative to sugar, if you're interested! :)

As for dessert, we ordered a slice of pavlova (mixed berries meringue cake) and a slice of this very rich chocolate cake. I like the pavlova more because personally, refreshing cakes are the BEST. But the chocolate cake was also pretty delicious though it's quite a mouthful! For you chocolate lovers, this is the cake for you! It's not too sweet either so you won't feel sick of the taste while eating it.

Overall, our experience in Alexis was good. The service was great, ambiance was pretty nice to; I would say a nice place for you to dress up for dinner because people who eat there seem very snazzy and stylish (it IS Bangsar after all), and the food was satisfying! I especially loved the desserts! They were definitely the highlights of the night!

BAD BOY COOKS

BAD BOY COOKS
[bad-boi-kook-ss]
Halal; Serves alcohol

If you're looking for cheap, Western food, this is the best place to be at! For you penny pinchers especially, it's a great place to save some money and to have very filling and pretty delicious Western food for a fraction of the price.

This place is adorable eyh! The concept of the restaurant is a typical American diner, with checkered board tiled floors and a pop of red from the cushioned seats and old-fashion outdoor furniture. Super-like!

You can see the menu from the counter, some of the snacks and desserts on display (mostly their yummy cookies) and the alcohol that they serve too! Don't you think the colours of the restaurant suit the theme really well? Smart, using the colour red; since red stimulates hunger.

Here's the menu. As you can see, A LOT of the food are only at 1-digit prices! So insane! I got so excited when I saw how cheap the food is! The best is the section of the menu (on the bottom part of the photo), you can order anything you want, add RM1 and you get a drink! Choices of Ice Lime Tea, Ice Green Tea and Ice Lime Juice! So awesome!

My bff ordered the Grilled Fish and Prawns (RM12) with Pomodoro sauce. It comes with coleslaw and chunky fries! It was a pretty good meal, nothing super special but I suppose the portion was well worth the cost.

My other friend only ordered a snack and coffee! Bad Boy Fries (RM4) and a Cappucino (RM5). I tried the coffee and it was pretty good! Surprisingly good and cheap!

I had the Super BB, which was the most expensive hot dog dish on their menu (RM18). The hot dog consisted of a chicken sausage, beef bacon, cheese, grilled onions, pomodoro sauce and a nice fried egg! Onion rings and chunky fries came as side dishes! Oh my goodness was this filling and pretty scrumptious too! The calories I've engulfed from this dish was too darn high! Haha. But I really liked it. It was super filling. A very American dish, I would say. Also, I had a cup of mocha (RM6). Really not bad but of course, could be nicer. Really big serving of mocha though!

For dessert, my friends and I shared the signature Bad Boy Cooks dessert, which is BAD BOY MADNESS (RM19). It was a behemoth of a dessert! As you can see from the photo above, this dish consist of EVERYTHING from the dessert menu! It was REALLY sinful and good but wow, very filling and very difficult to finish! I suggest sharing this amongst 5 - 8 people! There was SO MUCH. But I loved it! I especially loved the cookie, ice cream, chocolate chip, banana and whipped cream TOGETHER. So good!

Over all, a pretty nice place to eat in. I enjoyed the food even though it was, in my honest opinion, only so-so, but for the price, it was really worth it. My favourite was of course, the dessert! Really good! But you'll feel so guilty after eating it! So much sugar and chocolate! But once in a while, it's okay to indulge, right? Haha. I highly recommend this restaurant, if you wish to have a filling meal that won't burn a hole in your wallet.

PALATE PALETTE

PALATE PALETTE
[pal-it pal-it]
Halal; Serves alcohol

A bunch of friends and I celebrated one of my friends birthday at this unbelievably charming restaurant! It's so adorable, makes me want to scream in excitement! And the food here compliments the spaces so well!

This is what it looks like from the outside! Cute right? How can you not be drawn into it! Like a moth to a flame!

Apparently, they provide a bicycle rental service so if you're a traveler who needs an economical form of transportation, this is the way to go (just don't get hit by any lunatic KL drivers while you're at it)!

Here's a sneak peak of the makan section of the menu (I downloaded from their website). The food ranges from RM10++ - RM30++ depending on how extravagant the meal it.

Cost of drinks are relatively normal (if compared to other restaurants) so nothing to complain here.

If you're interested to have cocktails here on a Friday night or so, here's the menu for you to consider. Drinks cost the same as most of the drinking places I've gone to. No surprise here that the prices are a little ridiculous but it's alright for catching up with friends and chit chatting, no?

When you enter the restaurant, you can immediately see that its walls are covered in all kinds of artworks and murals! It's like a wonderland in this restaurant! Absolutely breath-taking!

Such a photogenic wall, no?

On the left is the corner of the bar area. SO CHARMING, I love it! And on the right is the ceiling from upstairs. We went upstairs to take a look too. So quirky and weird! And look at the giraffe! RANDOM.

I can't describe how much I love this place.

Just look at this corner! It's so beautiful!

And the artwork found at every corner of this restaurant is just so adorable and colourful! Lifts up your spirits when you see them! Flamingos and peacocks? Awesome in my book!

Back to food! I ordered this Chicken chop. The batter has sun-dried tomatoes in it I think. And it's served with mash potatoes and corn. I thought it was pretty good. A lil' pricy for something that seemed like a higher end version of KFC, but still pretty ok (RM28).

My friend ordered the quiche. It's only RM18 and it's served with so many side dishes! This looks more worth its price, don't you agree? I had a bite of it and it was pretty yummy! Might go back to Palate Palette to have this again! The portion was just right; not too sure about you big eaters though.

Here's the Smoked Salmon Pasta which was also RM28. My gal pal who ordered this couldn't finish it because she said it was too filling. Haha. It's served with a raw egg-yolk so you're suppose to burst it and mix everything up! Kind of Japanesey eyh! I tried it and it was really good! Similar to carbonara but the sauce was very rich and there's bits of shrimp roe in it! Super nice! Kinda wish I ordered this dish instead. Haha.

Since it was my friend's birthday, we ordered all of the desserts to celebrate! On the left is a ginger creme bulee (which I'm not a big fan off), the middle bottom is carrot cake, above it is pavlova (favourite!), on top is a dark chocolate cheesecake and on the far right is chocolate mousse (also my favourite!). We also had tiramisu served in a martini glass but I forgot to snap a photo. I'm sorry!!

The cheapest out of the bunch was the creme bulee (RM12) and the most expensive, the tiramisu (RM19). But my ultimate favourites were the pavlova and the chocolate mouse (RM16 each) because, who could go wrong with these two classic desserts?

Overall, I am in love with this restaurant! It's a little far so I'd definitely go again for special occasions, not on a regular basis. It's a little pricey but the food was good and well-worth the price. I have yet to try to coffee so perhaps on my next trip, I'll do so! Desserts were great (except for the ginger creme bulee. I'm sorry, I can't handle ginger).

I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice environment that's complimented with good food! The ambiance is wonderful. Perfect for birthdays and anniversaries, really!

D'ITALIANE

D'ITALIANE
[dee ih-tal-yuhn]
Halal; Serves alcohol

Italian food is one of my favourite things to eat to date! I can't live without my pasta. While having a nice shopping day in Paradigm with my friends, I noticed this fancy looking restaurant at the outdoor courtyard of the mall. It immediately attracted me! So we decided to have pasta for dinner! And I can safely say that I was very impressed by how delicious the food was.

View from the outside! There are seats outside for those who prefer the less cold air-conditioned air. Comfy cushioned seats for you!

Timber pallets and exposed light bulbs every where!

View from my seat. The left is the bar counter! They serve cocktails here too. I have yet to give the drinks a go!

View from my seat. Stone cladding wall finish as the feature wall! Compliments the whole colour scheme of the restaurant doesn't it?

Here's a peak at the menu! This is the pasta section, divided into 3 parts; Olive Oil/Clear Sauce, Tomato Sauce and Cream Sauce.

I ordered the Pasta Con Bestica and an Iced Lemon Mint Tea drink. The pasta was SO DELICIOUS and SO FILLING. RM25 is worth it for that plate of food! It was so tasty that I'm salivating just typing about it right now. The drink is alright. It tastes like lemon tea with a lot of mint in it - a bit like drinking toothpaste (haha). But it's pretty refreshing after a hardy meal!

Friend ordered Alla Carretiera (RM24) which was also very very good. The mixture of tuna, garlic, beef bacon; just everything in this pasta dish was so sublime! Next time, I will order this dish! Even though my dish was delicious too.

Another friends ordered the Smoked Duck Aglio Olio and this was also so very delicious! The duck was cooked well, not too oily nor too fatty, the angel hair pasta was smooth and the fried garlic is a super nice garnish to complete the dish! This one is the priciest though, assuming cause there is duck in it (RM29) but it was worth the cost!

I love this restaurant so much! I will definitely go back to try other dishes! I feel like I will be here very often! Though it is a little pricey, I think you will definitely get you money's worth!

BACI ITALIAN CAFE

BACI ITALIAN CAFE
[bah-cee ih-tal-yuhka-fey]
Halal

BACI in Italian means "kisses", so I would assume that the restaurant name is called "Kisses Italiana Cafe" (haha). Anyway, this restaurant is located in Citta Mall, next to +wondermilk. I like this restaurant somehow! It's very low profile but they cook and serve really good food! I managed to drop by for a short lunch only though. Will definitely go back to try more dishes!

When you enter, you immediately see the cashier on the right where you order you food and drinks, the display of pizza, bread and desserts in the middle and on the left, the seating area.

The menu is written on chalk board for you but if you prefer, they have actual menus at the cashier too.

After ordering, you wait for your drinks to be made and pick them up at the station next to the cashier, and off you go to your table.

View from my seat! Looks like a peaceful place to eat doesn't it? I really like this restaurant.

On this short lunch, I managed to try the Roast Chicken with Herd and Cilantro Pesto. This was half a chicken, as I was sharing with my BFF (it was about RM20 or so). It was REALLY GOOD! I really liked the wedges that came with it too. Delicious! But the salad was a little bland. Basically just eating leaves.

DETAILS :

Another restaurant that successfully pulled off the white wall. They kept it minimal with just a Coffe-o-graphy chart and a simple ornament. The wall texture makes everything look better too!

Will definitely go for a second visit! To try out the pasta and pizza next! While trying the roast chicken, I could smell the freshly baked pizza from where I was sitting! The waiters served it to the family sitting nearby my table and they gobbled it all up! I CAN IMAGINE HOW DELICIOUS IT IS.
